Henri ("the app", "we", "us") helps you analyze restaurant wine lists to find
good value and learn about the wines on offer. This policy explains what information the
app collects, how it is used, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. We aim to
collect only what the app needs to work.
1. Information we collect
Account information
Your username and, optionally, a display name.
Your email address (used to verify your account at sign-up, for password resets, and for important account notices).
Your password, stored only as a salted cryptographic hash — never in plain text.
Content you create or upload
Wine lists you add — by photographing a menu, uploading a PDF, sharing a link, or typing — and the wines, prices, and restaurant details extracted from them.
Photos and documents you submit for analysis.
Tasting notes, saved filters, taste preferences, and other settings you choose to save.
Usage and technical information
Basic activity needed to operate the service (for example, analysis and import records, and feature-usage counts such as how many wine lists you have analyzed against your plan limit).
Diagnostic data — crash reports and error logs that help us find and fix problems. These may include technical details about the device and the error.
Your approximate location, derived from your IP address (country/region level — not precise GPS), used to apply the right currency and pricing conventions and to surface locally relevant results. We do not collect precise device location.
2. How we use your information
To provide the core service: analyzing wine lists, identifying wines, estimating value, and showing you your saved content.
To create and secure your account, authenticate you, and reset your password.
To maintain, debug, and improve the app (including using diagnostic data to fix crashes).
To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse.
To contact you about your account or important changes to the service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
3. Third parties who process data for us
To deliver the service we rely on a small number of service providers ("processors"). They
receive only the data needed to perform their function and are not permitted to use it for
their own purposes.
Anthropic (Claude AI) — the text and images from the wine lists you submit are
sent to Anthropic's API to identify and analyze the wines. Under Anthropic's commercial API
terms, this data is processed to return your result and is not used to train their models.
Wine pricing & reference data provider — wine names/identifiers may be sent to a
market-data provider to retrieve reference prices and critic information. This does not include
your account identity.
Error-monitoring provider — crash and error reports are processed to help us keep the app stable.
Hosting providers — our backend and website are hosted on cloud infrastructure providers that
store data on our behalf.
Email provider — used to send password-reset and account emails.
IP-geolocation provider — your IP address is sent to a third-party geolocation
service (ipinfo.io) to estimate your approximate city (country/region/city level — not precise
GPS), so the app can default to locally relevant results such as good-value wines near you. The
lookup returns only an approximate location and is not used to track you.
4. Data retention
We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. Diagnostic
logs are kept for a limited period for troubleshooting and then discarded or aggregated.
5. Deleting your account and data
You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app:
Settings → Delete Account. When you delete your account we remove your personal
data — including your account, saved lists, preferences, tasting notes, and saved filters.
Contributions you shared with other users are kept but are no longer linked to you (your name is
removed). Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. You may also email us to request
deletion.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS),
hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure,
but we work to protect your information and limit what we collect.
7. Children
Henri concerns alcoholic beverages and is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is
not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your
personal data, or to object to certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the
app, or by contacting us at the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the
"Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
